Interview to Pescho Anvi

Pescho Anvi was the first one to understand the potential of Bivo for the outdoor activities. A Bivo user from the first hour, Pescho has been a fundamental resource for the development of the project and of the new version of Bivo. His youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/peschoanvi/about (which counts more than 7000 subscribers) shows videos that speak about his passions: bushcraft, trekking, nature, survival, and self-sufficiency and it is probably the most followed Italian channel about these topics.

D: First of all, we would like to know what you deal with when you are not busy with bushcraft and trekking activities.

Pescho: Luckily I have a job that keeps me busy. Apart from that of course I have a private life: family, relatives, home and garden, and with my father we often go to the forest to get some woods during summer and autumn. I am never bored.

D: In your youtube channel there are videos about trekking, suggestions on survival and bushcraft, and many in depth-analyses. Can you tell us what pushed you to start telling your experiences and adventures, giving such useful information to outdoor enthusiasts? How did you decide to start your youtube activity?

Pescho: I have always been interested on themes such as nature, outdoor and bushcraft. And like many others I was reading books and watching youtube videos. We are speaking about many years ago. The only thing is, the videos were mainly in English and German. There were some channels dealing with similar themes in Italian, but they were really a few. This fact was surprising but at the same time it made me curious. So at the beginning I was not sure if I should make videos in English or in Italian, but soon I realized that I wanted to make them in Italian, so that I could understand if I was the only one interested in such themes, or, to be precise, how many people shared my interests. So, without thinking too much about it, I started sharing my passions, and I have been continuing ever since.

D: Among the many videos that you made we think it is hard to choose one. Anyway, try to tell us which one in particular strikes a chord with you? Can you tell us why?

Pescho: Of course, there are many videos. But I think that the memory of how much I was exited to meet for the first time other people which I got in contact with thanks to my youtube channel. The video about Tre Cime di Lavaredo with the overnight in a cave is for sure special. There I met some special people which now are my friends and with whom we meet regularly now. Exactly this thing, to pass something from the “virtual” to the “real” and meet real people is something that I really appreciate. There are many more videos about meeting people and trekking with them that are part of my favourite.

D: Among the various topics that you speak about in your videos, which one do you like most? Or every topic linked with outdoor activities is as much important for you?

Pescho: What I like most is for sure bushcraft, so simple things about nature or various creation made by using natural resources et cetera…but those things are hard to shoot and show. And not everytime I bring with me my camera.

On the other hand I like the complete opposite side. Outdoor trekkings, where I try new products or materials. I like exactly the fact that I can test products, understand the limits of an equipment in different weather conditions, et cetera.

Yeah, a mix of those two things is what I prefer 🙂

D: The next question is about your next project. If you want to share it, tell us what you have in mind for the next months. Clearly, if you don’t want to disclose it, a little clue can be enough!

Pescho: I have many projects in mind. For 2018 I am planning a longer trekking, that if everything will go right will be two weeks long, obviously for an outdoor activity. And for the following snowy months I would like to do some trekking overnight in winter environments, with really extreme conditions.

D: Our last question is about Bivo. We, Bivo, understood the potential of the product for the world of outdoor activity also thanks to one great video you made, where you reviewed our product. Do suggest Bivo for outdoor enthusiasts? If yes, why?

Pescho: If I didn’t want to suggest Bivo I would not have done a video. For trekking and outdoor activities of more than one day I find your product to be an interesting alternative, when you need to look at every gram in the backpack. Moreover, for the calories it gives you Bivo takes really little room.

So less weight and little room is very good for the organization of a prolonged trekking. I find Bivo to be interesting, and I have already suggested it to many people, not only for outdoor activities.
