Outdoor in Piemonte

Are you already surfing the web looking for some ideas for a trekking holiday? Well if your idea is to go to Piedmont: the article we propose today is for you.

Piedmont is one of the largest and most populous regions of our country, but it is also a region famous for its mountains and for this reason it is loved by those who love outdoor life. Of course the paths that we could offer you are thousands. In this blog article we have chosen only a few, they are not the best because in order to evaluate an outdoor path it is simply necessary to carry it out and, looking back, relive the emotions that aroused us.

Let’s get back to us and our paths. The first proposal is the Monviso ring, a trekking route to be completed in 4 or 5 stages, particularly appreciated by mountain lovers because, despite being a high mountain trek, it is characterized by modest height differences. The views that you will be able to appreciate during the stages of this journey are truly fascinating and surprising, allowing you to appreciate the lakes of the Vallone delle Giargiatte and the upper Valle Po, the Postino path and many other lookout points such as the peaks of Viso Mozzo and Losetta.

Along the same lines as the previous route, the Tour of Monte Rosa also deserves a mention: 9 stages and 6 valleys. A minimum altitude of 1600 meters, which is recorded in Zermatt – the starting point – and a maximum of 3317 of the Teodulo pass. We would like to point out, for those who do not have the possibility to dedicate 9 days to this trekking route, that it is possible to reduce the time and physical effort by using in some cases the ski lifts.

But in Piedmont there are also several natural parks, worthy of mention. We mention only one: the Natural Park of the Gran Bosco of Salbertrand. This park has about 700 hectares of forest and allows you to appreciate white and red firs, larches, stone pines and many other unique tree species thanks to a ring route of extraordinary beauty.

If instead of the flora you are curious to observe the alpine fauna in its natural habitat, the faunal oasis of the Barant in Val di Pelice is for you. This area is in fact intended for the protection of roe deer and ibex.

If you love the genre, the paths of the Maritime Alps are for you. Here it will not be difficult to hear the whistle of the marmot or see chamois, roe deer and ibex.

Another long promenade route (200 km) but characterized by a fairly low difficulty rate is the Grande Traversata del Biellese. The route divided into 57 stages, which can be covered over 15 days, is a long ring route that takes place mainly in lowland or hilly contexts. The places worthy of mention are really many, 200 km are so many (try to believe), we leave you then to other sites for details.

In the province of Cuneo in the nineties, the hoteliers of the Maira valley and the local administrations have devised a 14-stage trekking route called Percorsi Occitani. The development of the 177 km is interesting both from a hiking and landscape point of view and from the historical and anthropological point of view because it allows you to visit some mountain villages and fully experience the everyday life of mountain life.

We go down a bit of altitude, here is the Grande Traversata della Collina that, through 6 stages, joins Moncalieri and Chiasso and crosses the pluvial band of the Po and the Maddalena park. This beautiful route, which can be taken on either by bike or on foot, is 65 km long.

A journey that can be completed in one day is the Grande Sentiero del Roero, a 12 km path of rare beauty made unique by geological erosion that has created a paradise for botanists, geologists but in general for all trekking lovers. But be forewarned that this is a recommended route for experienced hikers and cyclists.

We cannot avoid to include in one of our articles some paths to do surrounded by a mirror of water. Here then is a world heritage of humanity: the Sacred Mount Orta in Lake Orta and its namesake ring. A particular lake of great value not only naturalistic but also historical. We highly recommend it!

As we told you in the beginning in Piedmont there is the embarrassment of the choice as for outdoor paths. In addition to what we have proposed in this article, you can find many other proposals on this site: https://trekking.it/reportage/percorsi-piemonte.html
